More pictures from Sports Day 1979

Here are some more pictures for all you face spotters out there! Simply click on the picture to view a larger version in another window

The Final March Past culminates not just the day, but hours and hours of sports training and relentless marching practice! On the left is Barton House (captain Malika Rao), in the middle - a section of Maiden House (captain Viji R) and on the right is Foley House (captain Firdaus H) which won the inter house sports championship that year.

And of course, who could forget those ceremonial moments that marked the occasion...

On the Left: Sports Captain Sheela Nambiar takes the oath on behalf of all the athletes. On the Right: A solemn moment at the Closing Ceremony as the band plays Auld Lang Syne, and Sheela N, Sheila K (Sports Vice Cap'n) and School Vice Cap'ns Sumathi Bedi and Leena Athyal deliver the school flag to School Captain Christine Marley

Can anyone remember the Maiden house motto?
I think Foley was Unity is Strength ...If you look closely you can see Unity is the first word on the banner that Firdaus is carrying...

And yes...Foley were the champions that year thanks to Shyla's efforts

Maiden House motto was Love and Serve.

By the way I'm suspecting the mournful face peering out behind Kala is none other than our Nirupama Sarma .. and I'm wondering if the fifth girl after Ms Clarke's microphone is me? But then .. where are my glasses?

Foley House .. I see Anita Balakrishnan (my batch), foll by Mercy John (the girl had a strange habit of biting people .. got me on the shoulder once) and .. Maya? Or Mala .. from my batch. Also see Pervin down the line. And am wondering if the tiniest Foleyite might be Julie Ittiachen.

In Maiden can see Shoba Joseph, Melanie Aiyathurai and Supriya Hegde up front, and I think Kiran Bir is the last girl in the pic .. will go back to Facebook and tag them there!

Hmmm. Just realised why Barton house girls were looking so mournful .. clearly we came last! Cos in that final march, Foley's first, Maiden second. Firdous looks pretty mournful too however I suspect its that emotional stuff of 'the last sports day'

You think its Prabha Chacko Between Melanie and me ??

Thats Gayatri after Pervin and I think Sandya ...she was in our class further down the same line in Foley house.

There, you can see Jyothi and Mary I in the Barton front, other than Rukshi and Kala and who is that between Rukshi and Susan ??

I wish the blogger had an easy tagging option...

In the Barton line up, front row...there's Dipali's sister Anjali, Gita Velu, Susan, Gayathri Moorthy's sister then Rukshi and Kala and yes I think that is Nirupama behind.

Wasn't Mary I Foley? On either side of jyoti is jayalakshmi and jayshree isn't it? and yesss Nazu I do think that is you minus glasses!

You can see some of the Foley people better if you look at the flag handover pic..

to the right of Christine's head is Sheeba (Susan's cousin), then Gowri and Aamina, Pervin's head is covered by Sheela N, then you can see Gita S, and Mala (Arathi's sister)

In the Maiden shot that does look like Prabha between Melanie and Supriya, is that Radha Prasad after and two down is that Vindu?!

And two up from Kiran looks like Meera Appaswamy?
