Padmini Janakiraman's batch - picture of a picture taken during a party at Nergis (Batliwala) Sabawala's home.
(We had originally listed this as Malini Jairam's batch .. but I just got a mail from Padmini's sister Malini who corrected me - and also informed me this pic was taken in 1960 - Nazu, 15/10/08).

Wow, Gita...this is certainly an old photo...I think its pre '62 as I believe it shows Miss Millington who was the principal from 1958 - 1962. Mrs Acca Joseph and Mr Godbole are two faces I recognise!
Thanks Leena .. don't recognise anyone! This was before I was born!Must have another look and see if I can recognise which is Acca Joseph.
Yes, tis an old picture (of a picture) taken at Nergis (Batliwala) Sabawala's X'Mas party several years ago in NJ. Anyone remember Mrs. Batliwala - her house was very close to our school. Not sure what year the picture was taken but probably in the 60s, will try and find out.
hey...girls i recognize miss swares..(swari..!!).there........games
teacher ............
Do you mean the one next to the lady with the black cardigan? I think you are right! Also my mom thnks the teacher in the white sari at the back might be Mrs Chandran, The other teacher in sari and glass is Mrs Acca Joseph...
Good Lord! Yes that's Suares!! I don't know how I couldn't recognise her. She looks so young and happy .. not quite the stern dame we knew!! I can't see Chandran in any of those faces though.
The male teacher on the left might be Art Master Sir Sadagopan?!
Swari !! yes, she now lives in Australia, right Leena?
I just realised this picture is the one that got the whole Swaree reunion going .. Supriya's comment to Leena is what probably made you go google and start the search for Swaree!
I cannot see Sir Godbole in the picture ..........he was my Hindi teacher in Std's 4 and 5. Bless that dear man!! He used to call us back as'Sir'. He was a gem. Great teacher and great human being. He once told me that the mango tree near the toilet(I am talking of the old one near the boarding and the tailor's house/shop(don't know if that still exists) was planted by him when he joined the school in the 1950's. It was a huge tree by 1969 when he told me so.
He always wore a white panje/dothi with a white kurta.
The photo titled "Malini Jairam's batch" should be titled "Padmini Jairam's batch" as it is a photo of the 1960 batch of Cottonians.
Padmini is the elder sister of Malini Jairam.
Some of us "girls" from the 1962 batch of Cottonians are meeting in Bangalore in January 2009 for a Reunion after 46 years. There will be ten of us and we are very excited at the prospect of seeing each other, visiting Cottons, walking in Cubbon Park, eating meals together, etc.

I was in the 1976 batch and was thrilled to read about Miss Saures. I can never forget her voice ...."come on Dhanbhoori!!!" or Yazmin at times, be it while I was running, playing basketball or on the hockey field. I owe a lot to her.
behind Acca Joseph, towards the right is Miss Mulley, Biology teacher, and in front of AJ, to the left is Miss Johannes, Commonwealth History and French and/or Latin (can't remember)...
The lady in the white sari is Mrs. Chandran, and the other teacher in the sari with the glasses is Mrs. Acca Joseph.
